Let Them Pick

This entire post is brought to you by my family. My husband picked out my outfit, and Lyla picked out the poses we did for the pictures. How do you think they did?

This is what I wore out to celebrate my last day of working during the day with the husband. That night was also known as our last date night in a VERY LONG TIME! We went to see X-Men: First Class, and I must say I was very happy with it. My comic book, geek husband says they strayed from the story line a bit, but did a good job setting up for the movies that have already been made. For someone like me, who just likes the movies, it was a great movie. Have you seen this X-Men yet? If so, what did you think?

Everybody, Everywear: Lace and Oxfords

This month for Everybody, Everywear bloggers everywhere are wearing lace. After the voting ended, an lace was announced the winner I automatically started thinking about what lace items I had in my closet. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any lace or lace accented pieces. I guess I did have a camisole or two that have a small amount of lace trim on the neckline. In my opinion that didn’t actually count. I didn’t even have any cute lace wrapped accessories. What I did have is a lace nightie. Insert giggles, snickers, or blushing. I immediately began brainstorming on ways I could make it appropriate to wear out.I lucked out and had a nice, cool day last week. I’m talking thunderstorms the night before and only reaching 65. I was ecstatic! That meant I could layer a bandeau under and a cardigan on top. That meant I could be completely covered, yet still show off my lace.

I took advantage of the beautiful weather, and my free time by going to the park and taking pictures on the bike path. I’ve taken pictures outside before, but it isn’t nearly as nerve wracking when your husband is taking your pictures. This was my first go around with outdoor self-portraiture. I lucked out and nobody went by on the path. I just had to deal with a construction worker gawking at me from the parking lot. I hope to do this more often, now that I am home with Lyla during the day. I guess I should start reading up on Hello Monkey Face’s Self-Caught Feature. I didn’t have any issues with other passer-bys until I moved up to take accessory shots. The Scoop

How do you deal with curious onlookers? Any outdoor self-portraiture tips?

Maxed Out Flowers

I bought this as a maxi dress to wear to a wedding two summers ago. Let’s just say after having Lyla, and now especially being pregnant with the little guy, the top part just doesn’t fit right anymore. However, I loved the print and maxi dresses and skirts are still in style. I took my scissors and chopped off the top I’ve worn it before with a shirt tucked in and belted. That way works much better, but is way too uncomfortable for me at the moment. Thankfully, the bump is big enough that my Bella Band was all I needed to keep it up for the most part.

The best of my new uniform

Yep, I’m in that horribly awkward stage where my regular clothes don’t fit right and maternity clothes keep me busy all day yanking on them. What have I been doing to fight my hardest through this battle? I’m wearing dresses, tunics, or at least really long shirts with my sized up jeans. Depending on the day I may need to top this ensemble with the ever popular pregnancy band. Don’t even get me started on that thing. I feel that it is a blessing disguised as cruel hoops that must be jumped through each time you stand up.

I apologize again for my silence. Lots of things going on at the moment, and I’m having trouble staying on top of it all. The other reason being I really have not had many more than mediocre outfits. As I said earlier, this is probably the best of the best when it comes to my new uniform. I hope to pass this shortly, and have some time and energy to take pictures again soon. You can’t even see my 15 week bump here since, these are old(ish) pics.

Florals Just Scream Spring

This is the dress I wore on Sunday. Since, it was the first official day of spring I couldn’t think of any other way to kick it off except with the perfect vintage floral dress.
I won this dress in a giveaway that Tieka of Selective Potential hosted awhile ago. This is its first outing, and I got a lot of compliments on it. Love the cut and pattern.

30 for 30: I’m in the market

I can barely keep my eyes open to write this post. My mom had Lyla overnight again, and I wish I could say that Nate and I took advantage of the situation and slept in. In fact, I was up at 5:00 am wide awake and hungry. I ran to the kitchen trying not to wake Nate or the dogs grabbed a banana and jumped back in bed. Unfortunately, after finishing my morning snack I was even more awake than I was a few minutes ago. I did what any sane fashion blogger would do, I checked Twitter, Facebook, and tried catching up on a few blogs. Thankfully, after an hour and a half of that I fell back asleep only to wake up an hour later.
Once Nate and I were both up and ready to go we headed out the door to run a few errands while we were childless. Nate and Lyla got new shoes, and I scoured CVS and Shopko looking for a particular Burt’s Bees lip balm. This wonderful product that I’ve heard rave reviews about was no where to be found. Anybody know where I can find their Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter? Also, don’t they make a lip product in a tin too? Couldn’t find that either.
Sunday, was spent working at church than watching a few of my dancers perform at a nursing home. More on that at a later date. When we finally got home I was wiped. I tried napping, but that was fairly unsuccessful. I finished catching up on 30 for 30 outfit pictures, and started a load of laundry. I would like to report that I got more things done, but I’m only human and a tired one at that.

30 for 30: It’s a Wrap

Let me say this now, and just get it out of the way, I love this wrap! It is like wearing a sweatshirt, but so much better! Now that I got that off my chest (Which stayed nice and warm because of said wrap.) What are some of your favorite, yet stylish, was to stay warm?
